A
ride on the Skyrail Cableway to Kuranda
and returning on the Scenic Kuranda Railway is
a must do – the Baron River Falls from the
Skyrail is an unforgettable experience. Your Skyrail
ride above the rainforest canopy includes a stop
at the Rainforeststation and be sure to visit
the Butterfly Sanctuary and the Kuranda markets
prior to returning on the vintage Kuranda Railway
as it crawls through tropical rainforest.
Travelling
through this ancient land you will be ever aware
of the culture and history
of the Australian Aboriginal, the world’s
most ancient race.
A
visit to the Aboriginal Tjapukai Dance Group
performance reminds one of the age and culture
of these ancient Australians.
Take
a guided day or night jungle walk in the Daintree
Rainforest or a cruise along the Daintree River
where your guides will explain the rich diversity
of this ancient land’s flora, fauna and
marine life.
You
will be amazed at the huge variety of
wildlife, bird life, insects, spiders and animals;
many species found no where else on earth.
See
ancient trees – some over 3,000
years old and marvel at the tropical rainforest
plants.
Opportunities
to photograph nature will have your camera working
overtime.
In
addition to spectacular bird watching you will
marvel at the proliferation of frogs, snakes,
lizards, crocodiles, bats and you may be privileged
to see the secretive Cassowary. Standing almost
2 metres tall (over 6 foot) a very important bird
in the rainforest because it helps to spread the
seeds for many rainforest plants – but stay
well clear because they have extremely sharp claws.
Your
vacation in Far North Queensland would not be
complete without a visit to the Wooroonooran National
Park which takes in the highest and the wettest
coastal range in Far North Queensland. Here you
can see the Satin Bower Bird, Victoria’s
Riflebird, the Golden Bowerbird and the Tooth-billed
Catbird as well as the tree climbing Lumholz kangaroo,
platypus and beautiful butterflies, including
the vivid blue Ulysses and the Cairns Birdwing.
